Switching of W-band Signals for Active and Reconfigurable Delivery

Juan Sebastián Rodríguez Páez was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electronic Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2011 and 2014, respectively. Currently, he is working as a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher (ESR) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), under the FiWiN5G project. In his research, he works on the switching of W-band signals for active and reconfigurable delivery. His interests include Microwave photonics, optical switching, dynamic allocation, millimeter-wave communications, RF and optical systems.


The objective of this project is to study and provide solutions for dynamic switching of high-capacity W-band signals employing optical switches. The project will study different switching technologies and active delivery architectures and topologies from the standpoint of W-band delivery.

The project includes an external stay at G-INP (Grenoble, France) for experimental testing of an optical switching block designed within the project at the W-band and Low-Terahertz frequencies. G-INP has experimental facilities capable of generating, transmitting and receiving W-band and Low-Terahertz signals.
