10.4.17 - Dates for the 3rd FiWiN5GSummer School in Duisburg are now fixed

Orangised by the University of Duisburg-Essen, the 2rd FiWiN5G Summer School will take place between the 26-28 July 2017 in Duisburg Germany. The full programme will be available shortly.

30.11.16 - Programme for the 2nd FiWiN5G Winter School announced

Orangised by the University of Ljubljana, the Winter School will take place between the 1st and 7th February 2017.The full programme is available to FiWiN5G partners in the Secure Area.

28.11.16 - 2nd Workshop on Fiber-Wireless Network Technologies and Architectures towards 5G and Beyond (FiWiN5G) at ICTON 2017

We are pleased to account that the FiWiN5G project will be organising the 2nd Workshop on Fiber-Wireless Network Technologies and Architectures towards 5G and Beyond (FiWiN5G) as part of the 19th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks ICTON 2017 which will take place in Girona, Spain, July 2-6, 2017. The deadline for paper submissions is the 31st March 2017.

07.10.16 - Training Course - RF and Optical Measurement techniques

In November 2016 UCL hosted a 4 day practical training course on Rf and Optical Measurements. Members of the consortium can find the teaching materials available on the internal training pages.

24.05.16 - 2nd FiWin5G Summer School

18.03.16 FiWiN5G Training Event @UC3M: Photonic Integrated Circuit Design for Millimeter and Terahertz Wave Generation

16-18 March 2016

over the past 3 days, a training event for FIWIN5G ESRs has been hosted by UC3M, co-located with a Spain-Japan Bilateral Workshop on Millimeter and Terahertz wave technology. The event brought most of the Japanese pioneers in the field, covering from technology to applications

29.1.16 - Photonics Technologies and Components

Over the past 4 days FiWiN5G ESRs have been involved a training programme organized by University Duisburg-Essen, Germany. The program provided physical background on the theory and modelling of key photonic devices. Attendees also had chance to gain practical skills in the fabrication of III/V semiconductor based key photonic components.

04.12.15 - Joint Workshop with COMANDER at ICTON 2016 announced

The FiWiN5G is proud to announce that we will be running a workshop at ICTON 2016 in collaboration with the COMANDER project. The workshop will cover Fiber-Wireless Network Technologies and Architectures towards 5G and Beyond.

25.10.15 - First FiWiN5G Winter School at MWP 2015

Prof Beatrice Cabon from Grenoble-INP opens the 1st FiWiN5G winter school which is colocated with the IEEE International Topcial Meeting on Microwave Photonics in Paphos, Cyprus. She introduced seven of the Early Stage Researchers who have joined the project.

30.6.15 - First FiWiN5G Summer School

Prof Misha Dohler of Kings College London, opens the 1st FiWiN5G Summer School on the Vision on 5G. Further infomration on the 1st Summer School.

16.3.15 - Launch of the First FiWiN5G Summer School

Details of the first FiWiN5G Summer School have now been released. The workshop, held in conjunction with the 20th European Conference on Networking and Optical Communication (NOC2015) at UCL in London, will loook at the Vision of 5G Networks. It brings together key researchers from Academia and Industry to present their vision of 5G networks to inform the system and devices being developed with in the FiWiN5G project. The Summer School will be open to students and Industry.

10.3.15 - 1st Virtual Supervisory Board

On the 10th March 2015, the FiWiN5G project held its first Supervisory board meeting. The teleconference brought together all partners (full and associate) to be updated on the progress so far and being to plan the next stages of the programme. This board represented the highest level of management within the project.

15.1.15 - FiWiN5G Kick-off Meeting Held in London

15th January 2015 saw the Kick-off meeting of the FiWiN5G project in London, UK. This meeting brought together all full partners of the project to plan the recruitment of the Early Stage Research and to develop the training Programme.
